Privacy Policy

      Ada+Max is designed for families. We take the privacy of children and parents seriously and collect only what's necessary to make the app work well.
    

1. Who We Are

Ada+Max ("we," "our," or "us") is a math homework helper app for kids and parents. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile app and website.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account and use the app:

Account information: Username, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), parent name, and child name (first name only).
Math problem photos: Images you take of math problems or homework using the app's camera feature. These are sent to our AI service (OpenAI) solely to generate an explanation.
Usage data: Game scores, flashcard practice history, problems solved, and confidence score — used to show your child's progress.
Device information: Basic device type and operating system, used for app compatibility.

We do not collect location data, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any biometric data.

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate the app and provide math tutoring features
To save your child's progress and game scores
To improve our AI-generated math explanations
To send occasional emails about your account (no marketing without consent)
To manage your subscription if you upgrade to Premium

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Ada+Max is designed to be used by children with parental involvement. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians, not children directly.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
Child names stored in the app are first names only, entered by a parent during setup.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

5. Photos and Camera

When you use the Snap & Solve or Check Your Work features, the app uses your device camera to capture an image of a math problem. This image is:

Sent securely to OpenAI's API to generate a step-by-step explanation
Stored temporarily in our database linked to your account history
Never shared with third parties for advertising or data-mining purposes

You can delete your account at any time, which removes all stored images and history.

6. AI Services (OpenAI)

Ada+Max uses OpenAI's API to analyze math problems and generate explanations. Photos and problem text are shared with OpenAI for this purpose. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy. We use OpenAI's standard API, which does not use your data to train their models by default.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

OpenAI — for AI-powered math explanations (see above)
Hosting providers — to operate our servers securely
Payment processors — if you subscribe to Premium (we never store full card details)

8. Data Security

We take security seriously:

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt — we never store plain-text passwords
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
Our database is not publicly accessible

9. Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. When deleted:

Your account and profile information is permanently removed
Your child's progress data, game scores, and photos are deleted
Deletion is processed within 30 days

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Opt out of any marketing communications

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
